Trail of the Eagles
This incredibly well-kept track, a local favorite, begins immediately in an old-growth aspen woodland. This route is at its finest in the fall, when you are surrounded by golden aspen leaves, but it is well traveled by residents all year, so summer and winter are both accessible and gorgeous. This is an out-and-back path with two main branches. After approximately a mile, you will come to a fork with one branch going downhill and the other going uphill. If you are unfamiliar with the height, the downhill route is the simplest, although both choices are pleasant and provide a wonderful immersion into Eagle-deep Vail’s forest. This walk is extremely pet-friendly, with multiple brook crossings for dogs.
